Wireless Bluetooth JBL Charge 2 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with Built-In Mic and PowerBank (Purple)

I am writing this review mostly as a comparison to the Bose Mini Soundlink as that is the most comparable and one of the highest rated portable bluetooth speakers on the market. Yes, the Bose sounds amazing as you have probably read in many of the reviews. I was lucky enough to be able to compare them side by side as a friend of mine has a mini. I was actually planning on getting a Bose for myself, but wanted to wait until I checked out this JBL Charge 2. I'm glad I waited! As I said, the Bose sounds amazing but when put side by side with this JBL, the difference is clear!

Not only is the JBL 50 bucks cheaper, but to my surprise, it actually sounds better!! I'm no audiophile by any means, just your average consumer, but I like my music to sound good and this makes it sound great! The sound emitted from this is more true to what it should sound like whereas the Bose seems almost to heavy and artificial, mostly when it comes to the bass notes. Not something that would be noticed if just listening to one or the other by itself. The musical range is great and although the JBL is plastic, I would feel much more comfortable toting it around with me compared to the Bose.

Of course you know that it has the capability of charging USB items with it's 6000mAh battery, hence the product name "Charge", so I don't really need to get into that too much I don't think. One downfall is that it doesn't come with a carrying case/pouch. I was looking on the Best Buy website and it says it does, but that is bad information. Another downfall is JBL/Harmon doesn't make a pouch that you can just buy as an accessory, but I have found a few generic ones here on Amazon that would work for around the $10 price range.

Wireless Bluetooth Beats Pill XL Boombox (Metallic sky)

read so many reviews, weighed them against my research and when I made a decision I decided to give Beats a whirl.I didn't go to the store and listen to them I'll admit. Just the research and reviews I found on Amazon and the net.

Wow. I lucked out. This XL is amazing. I've had it two months so far I couldn't be happier. The sound that comes from this 3 x 12" speaker is full. Even if I crank it up to it's loudest it never loses any sound. I'm no snob though, low, highs, whatever all I know is this thing sounds wonderful. The battery is crazy good, it holds a charge and a half! It will even charge your phone and still keep going!

I recently took it cabin camping and told people to rub it to connect. They all laughed but i said I'm serious rub it, lol Sure enough their phones either connected or immediately recognized the device. Connection is pretty decent too, I move the phone 10 feet away no problems, even further sometimes. Sometime though it goes out at shorter distances, so I don't really get Bluetooth and why it goes out or not. I don't know what else to say.

I wasn't expecting much when I ordered this as I was expecting a basic speaker with Bluetooth capability. I was getting it more for convenience so as long as it provided decent sound I would have been happy. However the Turtle Shell 2.0 exceeded all expectations tremendously. It really is hard to express how impressed I am with this device.

Once charged (approximately 12 hours) it connects easily to any Bluetooth capable device. Once connected I started playing different types of music, from rock to jazz to classical, etc. I was blown away with the sound quality. It's one thing for a speaker to be able to play loud music without distortion but the Turtle Shell also excels on soft orchestral pieces as well. While not Bose-like quality it still has great clarity of sound. The range is promoted at 32 feet which may be pushing it just a bit. It comes close as long as there is a clear signal path. If you have a wall or two between the speakers and your Bluetooth device it drops to about 10 feet at best.

Took it out of the box today and my daughter had it sitting on the dock and had just finished telling me how much she liked it when the dog promptly knocked it in the lake. Dog was cursed, speaker rescued and is still sitting on the dock working like it was still new. Everyone was impressed and the dog is out of the doghouse.

First a little background on me: I am a professional in the sound reinforcement and audio/video space. I make my living doing this and have been for 20 years. I know how to identify a good sounding speaker.

I have been looking at bluetooth speaker systems for quite some time. I have an original Logitech mm50 portable speaker system from a few years ago that has served its purpose well and needs retired. I originally was thinking of getting the Jawbone JAMBOX or Jawbone BIG JAMBOX. A friend of mine ended up with the Big Jambox and I was less than impressed with the sound. Yes, it may have some nice features, but the main objective should be sound quality. The Jawbone lacked low end bass and had a definite mid range boost that I didn't care for. Once I heard the Logitech UE Boombox, I knew that I had found the speaker I would end up with.

Some reviewers have mentioned that the bass may be too much. This may be true if the boombox is located close to a wall. It ends up coupling with the wall and you get about a 3db boost of low end. If this is the case for you, move the boombox away from the wall and it will sound more natural. Who knows, you may even prefer it that way depending of the music you listen to! Other than that, the mids and high end are detailed. The tweeters are located up as high and wide as they can be behind the metal grill.

Just got mine. It's just want I wanted. Imagine a pair of 2 way 6 inch aftermarket car speakers in a ported speaker box connected to a 100 watt rms per channel amp. In my opinion this is just what you are getting.
As you should expect with 6 inch woofers, the bass is present, but your not going to feel it in your chest. This is not a bass tube. In a closed room, it is louder and clearer than your basic 2.1 computer speakers. However, this is not a product you get because you want indoor music. This is something you can take out in open space and turn it up load. The tube is basically a 12 inch cyclinder 3 feet long. It's lighter than it looks and the weight is balance, so you can shoulder strap it and walk with no problems.
This is not a compact device trying to immulate a larger systerm. It does just want you would expect from two 6 inch woofers. Is it really 1,000 watts max? I doubt it. Nevertheless, it has all the power it needs to push it's woofers to the max.
I don't know how long the battery last yet. The bluetooth has the same limitation of other bluetooth devices I've owned, probably more dependant on the source than this product. Worth $500, hell no!! But for under $250, this is a awesome purchase. Very manly piece of equipment :)

Well made, great sound, easy to use, and we actually like the gaudy juke-box lights on it. It's for the master bedroom, and it more than fills the room with good, clear sound. Only complaint is when we use a thumb drive, the stereo unit has to start over from the beginning every time we power off and power up. Maybe that's normal. So now I just pause it when I leave, and then pick up where we left off. I'd always been a serious stereo component type of guy, but when my Sony receiver finally died in the bedroom, we decided to get this all in one. No regrets. We learned of these units from a cabin we stay at in the mountains that has one. Loved it then--we love it now.

I have been toying with these portable speakers/boombox's now for a few weeks. I am the master of NOT being happy and returning things. I want the best and most for my money, who doesn't? And that means I do a LOT of homework on the products I purchase. I originally wanted a SMALL Bluetooth speaker for sitting out on my patio, relaxing, BBQ'ing, watching the kids play or whatever. So let's mix sitting on the patio with some typical sounds that are outside that we all take for granted, (air conditioners, crickets, cicada's, tree frogs, cars passing, neighbors cutting grass, trimmers, kids playing, wind, emergency vehicles and whatever else you can toss in there).
